Northamptonshire Acquired Brain Injury Forum Conference

Navigating the benefits system after acquired brain Injury, and addressing issues of mental capacity 

This information day is designed to provide support and insight for people living with acquired brain injury, carers and professionals.

The conference will specifically focus on two key topic areas:

  • Understanding and navigating the benefits system
  • Issues of mental capacity and the role of the Court of Protection (Lasting Powers of Attorney/Deputyships)

11.30 How to seek assistance when fighting for funding and educational assistance for children with special educational needs and disabilities; and seeking NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding  The Lawyer and the Nurse

12.00 Coffee/Tea and networking

12.30 Assessment of mental capacity after acquired brain injury- Dr Neil Brooks, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, Rehab Without Walls

1.15 LUNCH and networking

2.00 Dealing with lack of capacity using Lasting Power of Attorney, Deputyship and the Court of ProtectionSue Bowler, Partner Shoosmiths
