Brain injury charity Headway – the brain injury association, has expanded its charity shop portfolio with the opening of a new store in Huddersfield.
The stores opening was attended by staff, supporters and special guests including Huddersfield’s Deputy Mayor Liz Smaje, on April 1.
The new shop is located on New Street in Huddersfield’s town centre and stocks a wide range of quality pre-loved goods such as women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, jewellery, books, bric-a-brac and unique vintage lines, which Headway specially curated for the opening.
Headway has said that the store’s opening marks another milestone for the charity, enabling it to continue providing services to those living with the effects of a brain injury.
Each item sold helps the charity to raise the money needed to continue frontline services including their freephone nurse-led helpline, Brain Injury Identity Cards, and Headway Emergency Fund.
Head of Retail, David Byrne, said the shop has been designed with “accessibility and convenience in mind”, with a modern, stylish layout, complete with changing rooms and easy navigation for all shoppers, including those with mobility needs.
Byrne said: “The shop’s fresh and inviting look makes it a pleasure to browse and find hidden gems. Every purchase made at our Huddersfield shop directly supports Headway’s work in providing vital services to individuals affected by brain injury.
“Supporting local charity shops and shopping locally is incredibly important, not only for sustaining community-based stores like ours but also for reducing environmental impact by reusing quality items.
“The new shop is a significant milestone for Headway. The shop also serves as a hub for raising awareness and engaging with the local community.”
Richard Walker, manager at the Huddersfield shop, added: “I’m incredibly proud of becoming a part of the Headway Team and cannot wait for us to open our doors and join the wonderful community here.”
To mark the launch of the store, Headway is giving shoppers the chance of winning £50 to spend in store, who have until April 8 to get their entries in via Instagram.
To win, shoppers must piece together an outfit up to the value of £50 using the store’s selected pieces, snap a photo in the shop’s brand-new changing rooms, and post to Instagram, following and tagging @headway_uk.
The best outfit will be selected on April 9 with the winning customer notified on Instagram.
