A resident at an Exemplar Health Care specialist care home in Liverpool has taken a trip of a lifetime, having told staff she’d never been away before.
Val, who lives at Kavanagh Place care home in Liverpool, recently told the care team she’d love to go on holiday as she had never been away. The team at Kavanagh Place made her wish a reality with a trip to Blackpool, to see the sights she’d always talked about.
Whilst on the trip, Val and health care assistants Michelle and Linda spent four days exploring Blackpool, enjoying various activities including; Madame Tussaud’s, Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Dungeons, swimming, and The Jersey Boys.

The trip to Blackpool is just one example of how Exemplar Health Care achieves its aim of making ‘every day better’ for its service users.
Exemplar Health Care is a leading provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with complex needs. Its care focuses on supporting people to maximise their independence and live their best lives.
Michelle Roberts, who works at the care home as a senior health care assistant, suggested that they go on a trip to Blackpool earlier this year.
Michelle said: “Travelling is something Val has mentioned numerous times so it was amazing that we could fulfil her wish to go on holiday. We loved planning what we were going to do each day and we managed to fit a lot into our four-day trip. Val didn’t stop smiling and she’s talked about it every day since.
“At Exemplar Health Care, our mission is to make every day better for the people we support, whatever that looks like to them. We’re glad that we could make Val’s wish come true on this trip.”
Val has lived at Kavanagh Place, in the One Care service opposite the main nursing home, since February 2020.
Val added: “I had a great time on holiday, I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to go again next year.”

Kavanagh Place, part of Exemplar Health Care, is a Kirkdale-based care home that supports adults living with complex needs.
