Webinar series to address electrical stimulation

PF Education, the education branch of PhysioFunction, will share its experience and expertise in FES

A series of webinars will help neuro-rehab professionals in their understanding of electrical stimulation and FES and support them in using it with patients. 

Electrical stimulation is a widely utilised treatment modality for individuals living with long-term conditions such as stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy and Acquired and Traumatic Brain Injury.

PF Education, a branch of PhysioFunction which allows the team to share their expertise and experience, is hosting a series of sessions over the coming weeks to address the topic, aimed at supporting professional, clients and the wider MDT to achieve best outcomes.

The webinars will comprise an education series, including online case study workshop to support use of electrical stimulation with patients.

Interactive webinars will be delivered via Zoom and will include:

Session 1: Introduction to Electrical Stimulation  

Introduction the principles underpinning the use of electrical stimulation including anatomy and physiology, electrical stimulation terminology, physiological effects and parameters.

Session 2: Electrical Stimulation Applications 

Exploring available FES devices for the lower limb, upper limb and exercise, discussing current evidence, patient selection, patient preparation and pros and cons of different devices for applications such as foot drop, assisted cycling and upper limb function.

Session 3: FES/NMES case studies for the Lower Limb 

Submit patient case studies for lower limb electrical stimulation intervention and we will discuss potential treatment approaches, recommended parameters, dosage, potential devices to consider/trial and application considerations. Upon registration, you will be provided with a case study form to complete and submit ahead of the session.

Session 4: FES for exercise 

Submit patient case studies for upper limb electrical stimulation intervention and we will discuss potential treatment approaches, recommended parameters, dosage, potential devices to consider/trial and application considerations. Upon registration you will be provided with a case study form to complete and submit ahead of the session.
