A Darlington care service which supports men with mental health needs and brain injuries is celebrating after securing six finalist places at a national awards ceremony recognising excellence in neurological and complex care.
Cygnet St William’s, part of the Cygnet Health Care division, has been shortlisted six times at the 2026 Neurological and Complex Care Awards, with recognition spanning psychological support, occupational therapy, activities, leadership, innovative rehabilitation and patient and family support.
The six finalist places are:
- Martin Morris – Activity Organiser
- Bobbie Turnbull – Best Psychological Support Service
- Georgia Nelson – Excellence in Occupational Therapy
- Cygnet St William’s – Innovative Neuro Rehabilitation Program
- Chelsea Phelan – Manager of the Year (North)
- Cygnet St William’s – Outstanding Patient and Family Support
Chelsea, the Cygnet Health Care manager, said: “I am so pleased for the entire team.

Martin Morris has been shortlisted in the Activity Organiser category, recognising the important role meaningful activities can play in supporting wellbeing, confidence and quality of life.
Bobbie Turnbull is a finalist for Best Psychological Support Service, while Georgia Nelson has been shortlisted for Excellence in Occupational Therapy, highlighting the specialist clinical expertise involved in delivering personalised neurological rehabilitation.
Cygnet St William’s itself has been recognised in two categories.
The service is a finalist for Innovative Neuro Rehabilitation Program, celebrating its approach to supporting people through rehabilitation, and Outstanding Patient and Family Support, recognising the importance placed on supporting individuals and their loved ones throughout their journey.
Chelsea completes the six finalist places after being shortlisted for Manager of the Year (North), recognising her leadership of the service and commitment to high-quality, person-centred care.
She added: “To have six finalist places at these national awards is an incredible achievement and I am immensely proud of everyone at St William’s.
“What makes this recognition particularly special is the range of work being celebrated.
“Effective neurological rehabilitation relies on colleagues from different disciplines working together, sharing their expertise and always keeping the individual at the centre of their care.
“From psychological support and occupational therapy to meaningful activities, innovative rehabilitation and the relationships we build with patients and their families, every part of the team has a role to play in helping people achieve their goals.

Cygnet St William’s is part of Cygnet Health Care’s network of specialist neurological services, which has received significant recognition at this year’s awards.
Across Cygnet, colleagues, teams and services have secured 19 finalist places, while Cygnet Group is shortlisted for Best Neurological Care Provider, an award it won in 2025.
Cygnet operates 12 neurological services and 100 per cent are rated Good or Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.
The winners will be announced on Tuesday 27 October.
