With the SR Times Podcast returning for season 2 next week, why not catch up and listen to season 1 of the podcast, featuring thrombectomy expert Dr Sanjeev Nayak.

Episode 1 – Dr Kate Allatt 

In the first ever episode of the SR Times Podcast, Dr Kate Allatt shares with us her extraordinary story of how she recovered from locked-in syndrome after she suffered a stroke. 

Dr Allatt is now a motivational storytelling leadership speaker and also uses her experiences to be able to provide health and social care professionals with the tools to be able to speak to be able to speak to stroke survivors about sex.

Episode 2 – Nick Clarke

Here we speak to Nick Clarke, a stroke survivor who started his own charity in 2016. His charity StrokeInformation helps stroke survivors with problems they may face after stroke, for example applying for disability benefits.

Nick shares his story of playing for Stockport County, surviving a stroke and starting a charity.

Episode 3 – Dr Sanjeev Nayak

In this episode we speak with thrombectomy expert Dr Sanjeev Nayak to find out all about what is being touted as a ‘miracle treatment.’

Dr Nayak shares with us his journey as a stroke professional, how he came to be involved in thrombectomy and how the procedure is carried out.

Episode 4 – Matt Crossen 

Captain of England’s cerebral palsy team, Matt Crossen shares with us how a knock on the football pitch would later lead to a stroke. 

Matt shares his inspirational story of how his stroke caused him to have cerebral palsy and having to learn how to play football all over again and also how his England call-up came about.

Episode 5 – Austin Willett 

Here we speak to Austin Willet, CEO of young stroke survivor charity Different Strokes.

We speak on the issues and stigmas surrounding stroke in younger adults/children, we ask Austin if enough is being done for young stroke survivors, as well as how the charity kept afloat during the pandemic and if the cost of living crisis is effecting the stroke community.
