The Brain Charity named Liverpool Chamber’s Charity Partner of the Year

The Brain Charity has been named Liverpool Chamber’s Charity Partner of the Year, with fundraising activities planned over the next 12 months.

The Liverpool-based charity has provided services and support to people with neurological conditions across the UK for more than 30 years.

Through the partnership, it will engage with Chamber members and raise funds at events including the Liverpool Innovation & Impact Awards in October and Chamber’s Day at the Races during the Grand National Festival at Aintree in April.

Members will also have opportunities to learn more about neurodiversity and apply that knowledge within their businesses.

A key fundraising priority is the charity’s Neuro Gym, a free, accessible facility in Liverpool providing specialist equipment to support rehabilitation for anyone affected by a neurological condition.

Matthew Meaney, chief executive of The Brain Charity, said: “When the opportunity arose to become Liverpool Chamber’s charity partner, we didn’t hesitate.

“We’re delighted to have been chosen and are really looking forward to working with the Chamber and its members over the next year.

“The Neuro Gym is an important part of our work, providing free access to specialist equipment for people living with neurological conditions who might otherwise face barriers because of cost or a lack of suitable facilities.

“For many people following a stroke, brain injury, or other neurological event, being able to build strength and confidence in a supportive environment can make a real difference to their recovery and wellbeing.”

The charity hopes the partnership will raise awareness of neurological conditions and neurodiversity while generating funds to keep the facility free for those who need it.

Paul Cherpeau, chief executive of Liverpool Chamber, said: “The Brain Charity is a fantastic organisation, anchored in Liverpool and making a real difference to lives across the country.

“Its reputation is already well-established, and we hope that through an expanded relationship with the Chamber we can help to amplify its message even further and help to raise vital funds along the way.

“Their core values around inclusion, skills development and providing opportunities for all resonate closely with our values at Liverpool Chamber and I’m confident this will prove to be a successful and fruitful partnership over the next year.”
