Come and join one of the UK’s largest providers in complex care. We proudly employ over 4000+ people - no matter what your experience, we have jobs for everyone.

Are you ready to take your expertise in neurorehabilitation to the next level and help shape a pioneering service? Our Birmingham centre is transitioning to Active Neuro, the newly launched division of Active Care Group, providing specialist rehabilitation for adults across the UK living with neurological conditions caused by injury, illness, or disease. We are dedicated to helping every person we support feel safe, happy, and empowered—enabling them to live their best possible life. Active Neuro has made significant investments in refurbishing the service and introducing state-of-the-art robotic technology, including the Luna EMG Premium and the ExoMotus M4, giving therapists the tools to deliver intensive, goal-oriented rehabilitation tailored to each individual. Here, recovery is not just about restoring function—it’s about rebuilding independence, confidence, and quality of life. We support NHS, private, and medicolegal clients, and unlike many services, we are not limited by short timeframes. This enables longer-term, meaningful goal setting—whether that’s returning to hobbies, social activities, creative pursuits, or everyday life tasks. We are also expanding into outpatient pathways, ensuring continuity of care for those who no longer require inpatient rehabilitation, and offering support to the wider community. As our Lead Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the service—developing clinical pathways, introducing innovative approaches, and inspiring a multidisciplinary team. We value your expertise and creativity, giving you the freedom to contribute ideas, influence service development, and help drive innovation. You’ll also benefit from strong peer support, cross-site collaboration, and partnerships with organisations such as Headway and the Spinal Injuries Association, alongside personalised CPD opportunities and access to conferences and networking events. If you are passionate about making a tangible difference, leading a team, and delivering holistic, person-centred care, this is your chance to be at the forefront of neurorehabilitation in the UK. Please note: this advert will close once we have received a sufficient number of applications.
The Role: Our standard working hours are 37.5 per week, typically worked Monday to Friday. As the service continues to develop, there will be an expectation to transition to a 7-day working model. We recognise the importance of maintaining a healthy work–life balance, so if you require flexibility to suit your personal or professional commitments, we encourage an open conversation—we’ll always aim to accommodate individual needs wherever possible. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as an autonomous practitioner to plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload
  • Work closely with clients and their family/carers to encourage participation in the therapeutic process
  • Provide supervision, teaching, and appraisal for junior occupational therapists, assistants, students and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service
  • Develop Occupational therapy Treatment programmes in collaboration with clients, carers and other involved professionals (e.g. Therapeutic Rehabilitation Assistant, Support Workers) to be carried out as appropriate
  • Participating in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues, including the management and reporting of incidents
  • Ensure a high level of communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in the process of positively supporting and inspiring colleagues within the service to improve standards and quality and to develop professional practice
  • Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights
About you: We are looking for an experienced and compassionate professional who:
  • Is HCPC registered
  • Brings extensive experience in neurological rehabilitation or related complex care settings
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills, inspiring and motivating a multidisciplinary team
  • Is passionate about innovation and delivering outstanding, life-changing outcomes for our clients
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
We also want to ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable facilities to participate in job applications or interviews to perform essential job functions. To support this, we are a Disability Confident employer.
