Teen with cerebral palsy on fundraising mission to give the gift of running

A teenager with cerebral palsy is on a mission to raise funds to give disabled children the freedom to run through frame running.

Using a running frame, children and adults with mobility challenges can experience the joy, freedom and independence of running – a feeling James Scammel describes as flying, free from limits and disability.

Inspired by this, James is fundraising £25,000 to support One Step Beyond, an inclusive frame running club that is part of Bournemouth Athletics Club.

This club empowers children and adults with disabilities to experience movement, build confidence, and join a supportive, active community.

To make this possible, James is seeking five generous companies to each contribute £5,000 toward purchasing Connie Hansen running frames in multiple sizes.

These high-quality frames will allow participants of all ages to take part in sessions — and even borrow frames between events to enjoy independence in daily life.

How Your Support Will Make a Difference

Your donation will:

  • Provide running frames for disabled children and adults across the South Coast.
  • Help One Step Beyond grow into a sustainable club and future charity.
  • Give children who have never been able to run the freedom to move, play, and dream.
