A charity dedicated to supporting local children, and their families, has entered a new partnership with a national law firm to further enhance its vital services.
Charlie House works across the North-east of Scotland to improve the quality of life for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, while providing essential support to their families.
The charity is committed to ensuring that local children and families have access to practical and emotional support, a full programme of inclusive activities, and opportunities to create lasting memories.
In North-east Scotland, there are around 1,800 children living with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.
Each year, Charlie House supports families to navigate the challenges of caring for a child with serious health conditions, helping them live life to the fullest with the right support and resources in place, helping them create memories for the whole family to treasure.
Through this new partnership, Slater and Gordon will support the charity by helping to fund a Children & Family Support Worker. This position plays a key role in delivering hands-on support to families, helping them access services, providing guidance, and offering emotional support during some of the most challenging times.
In addition, the law firm will provide legal education sessions and clinics for families, staff and the wider charity network. These sessions will ensure those connected to Charlie House have access to clear, practical advice on important legal matters.
The partnership will enable Charlie House to further strengthen its support for families, while helping them better understand their rights in key areas impacting their lives.
Derek Couper, principal lawyer at Slater and Gordon, said: “The work Charlie House does to support children and their families, is truly remarkable.
“At incredibly challenging times, their team provides vital care, compassion and practical support that makes a real difference to so many lives.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Charlie House and to support the Children & Family Support Worker role, which plays such an important part in helping families access the support they need.
“Alongside our legal education sessions and clinics, we hope to provide meaningful, practical support to the whole Charlie House community and look forward to building a strong and impactful partnership together”.
Emma Leiper Finlayson, director of fundraising at Charlie House, said: “The partnership with Slater and Gordon is a wonderful example of the many ways that businesses can partner with Charlie House to make a meaningful difference to local children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and the families who love them.
“As a charity, we receive no statutory funding, meaning that every pound raised through partnerships like this helps local families to continue to access vital services across the North-East.
“From family activities and wellbeing support to practical assistance during incredibly challenging times, this generosity helps ensure that families can access the support they need, when they need it most.
“Every partnership looks different, but the impact is the same. We are truly grateful to everyone at Slater and Gordon for choosing to stand alongside Charlie House and helping local children and families at the most difficult of times.”
