Centre praised for ‘think outside the box’ approach to neuro rehab

A team of solicitors from insurance and legal services provider Carpenters Group have expressed their support for Calvert Reconnections.

During a visit to the centre, the Carpenters team gained an insight into Reconnections’ innovative approach to ABI rehabilitation which is delivering life-changing outcomes for participants.

Carol Hopwood, Solicitor, Head of Serious Injury and Intermediate Track Teams at Carpenters said: “I recently visited Calvert Reconnections with some of my colleagues from our Serious Injury Team and some case managers that we work with.

“We were all super impressed with the services on offer.

“It is a beautiful and inspiring location with a ‘think outside the box’ attitude to neuro-rehabilitation. The outcomes speak for themselves.

“We look forward to working together.”

Peter Parsonage, Solicitor, Serious Injury Department at Carpenters, added: “The facilities and ethos of the place is incredible.

“Science, rehab and nature working in unison.

“No one wants to be in a position where they need rehab, but if you do, wouldn’t you want to do it with this backdrop.”

Calvert Reconnections has recently released its annual Clinical Outcomes Review.

Highlights from the last 12 months include:

  • 80 per cent of participants who identified independent living as a goal went on to achieve it.
  • The majority of participants (65 per cent) progressed on to paid employment, vocational training, volunteering or community activity.
  • 100 per cent of participants who completed the Individual Recovery Outcomes Counter (IROC) at admission and discharge, reported a maintained or improved hope for the future.  The IROC is a way to measure recovery.
  • 70 per cent of participants who completed the IROC at admission and discharge reported an improved sense of purpose and direction in their life.
