Conference attendees can take part in fundraising fun run

Attendees at a major clinical negligence event are invited to get active while raising money by taking part in a charity run.

The Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA) Annual Clinical Negligence Conference (ACNC) is being held from Wednesday to Friday next week, with people expected to travel to Bournemouth from across the country to attend.

To help attendees make the most of their free time by getting active and looking after their wellbeing, a 5km charity run is being held on the Wednesday.

The run – which is open to runners of all abilities, and to anyone living locally – is sponsored by Circle Case Management, whose team will be on hand to help pre- and post-run.

Its managing director Richard Thorp, an experienced physiotherapist, will be available to offer any pre-run advice and help with any pre- or post-run niggles.

Circle’s marketing assistant and experienced Pilates instructor, Dana Haydon, will provide post-run sessions for all runners to ensure they are correctly cooled down and ready for an action-packed conference.

The event is one of the main dates in the calendar for clinical negligence specialists and offers engaging talks from medico-legal experts, networking opportunities and social opportunities.

2023 will be the 33rd edition of the event and will focus on surgery, while covering a host of other key medico-legal topics at such an important time for clinical negligence practitioners.

Richard Thorp, managing director of Circle Case Management, says: “As a business, Circle Case Management shares the aim of AvMA to improve patient safety and reduce harm.

“We also strive to take every opportunity to help improve wellbeing both for our staff and the population in general.

“We are really excited to be launching our first pre-conference fun run and hope that it will be the first of many such events. Helping both this fantastic charity and promoting health and wellbeing amongst all the conference goers and runners.”

Paul Whiteing, chief executive of AvMA, says: “We are excited about this 5k run organised by Circle Case Management and sponsored by Enable Law and Clarke Willmott LLP to raise funds for AvMA during our annual clinical negligence in Bournemouth.

“AvMA is a charity dedicated to helping those who have suffered from medical accidents and providing them with the support they need. Funds raised from the charity 5k run will go towards providing free advice and support to those affected.”

Runners will be asked to pay a registration fee of £20 + VAT to AvMA to register via this link: https://www.avma.org.uk/events/avma5krun/

Payment will include registration, running vest and water bottle. The running vest will need to be collected from the starting line from 4pm.
