First residents arrive and specialist brain injury care home

A specialist brain injury care home in West Sussex has welcomed its first residents and opened to healthcare professionals and the local community.

Warnham Lodge, near Warnham and Horsham, was developed by Splendid Care Group for people with acquired brain injury (ABI) and other complex neurological needs.

The home can accommodate up to 10 residents and held an open afternoon for healthcare professionals, commissioners, local stakeholders and community representatives to tour the facilities and meet the team.

Horsham District Councillor Tony Bevis said: “This home is a welcome addition to the specialist services on offer in the West Sussex area.

“Its facilities are really impressive and I know it will be a much valued resource for our local community.”

The service supports people with acquired and traumatic brain injury, stroke-related brain injuries, hypoxic or anoxic brain injuries, cognitive impairments, behavioural and emotional changes, physical disabilities and complex nursing needs.

Facilities include a dedicated physiotherapy team, hydrotherapy pool and internal spa pool. Each bedroom has a private terrace, with communal lounges and dining areas also available.

Antony Hall, managing director at Splendid Care Group, said: “We are incredibly proud to have welcomed our first residents to Warnham Lodge and to see the service become a reality.

“The positive response from professionals, local stakeholders and community visitors was fantastic and reinforces the need for specialist neurological services like this in West Sussex.

“The home has been carefully designed to provide the highest standards of clinical care in a beautiful and therapeutic environment, where individuals can focus on recovery, independence and quality of life.

“Our focus is always on helping people create special moments, and Warnham Lodge represents a significant and very welcome addition to the Splendid Care Group.”

Laura Newton, operations director at Splendid Care Group, said: “It has been wonderful to welcome our first residents and their families to Warnham Lodge.

“Care here is truly outcome-focused, with a strong emphasis on maximising independence and enabling meaningful progress for every individual we support.

“Our multidisciplinary team delivers tailored programmes centred on goal achievement, community engagement, functional and cognitive rehabilitation, and meaningful daily activity, all with the aim of enhancing overall quality of life.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with families, commissioners, referrers and healthcare professionals to ensure people receive the very best care and support possible.”

The home works with Integrated Care Boards, local authorities, NHS discharge teams, case managers and other healthcare professionals across England and Wales.
