If there is a thread running through this month’s stories, it is what recovery looks like when the right people refuse to accept the situation in front of them.
Sometimes that person is the survivor. Andy Read, whose “never give up, never back down” motto has carried him from brain injury to the start line of a triathlon, is proof of that, as are Jaffer and Tilly, whose stroke recovery stories in these pages are told with an honesty that will stay with you.
Tilly had her stroke at 19. Her message, “I’m still me”, deserves to be heard well beyond this magazine.
