A groundbreaking new research project to make people living with dementia and their loved ones a more central part of dementia care planning than ever before is the subject of the latest NR Times podcast.

Dr Inga Stewart
St Andrew’s Healthcare, working alongside the Alzheimer’s Society and a panel with both lived and professional experience of dementia, will investigate how best to involve people with dementia and their partners in care in future planning, and avoid them feeling sidelined in making such crucial provision.
By co-producing their own care plans, individuals and families can play a central part in the process, and ensure decisions and plans are made with them, rather than for them.
Dr Inga Stewart, consultant clinical psychologist, research Fellow and head of co-production at St Andrew’s Healthcare, is leading the research.
The Northampton-based provider is already deeply committed to co-production among its patients and families, and is undertaking the research to establish what best practice looks like, with a view to adoption in the wider world of healthcare.
In this podcast, Dr Stewart discusses the reasons for establishing this project, the importance of co-production, and its vast potential in changing the lives and experience of care for people with dementia and their loved ones.
