Methinks Stroke Suite obtains CE mark

Software that can enhance stroke patient outcomes by decreasing detection time and reduce disabilities is the first CE marked device that can help large vessel occlusions (LVOs).

Digital health company, Methinks, which specialises in early detection and management of acute stroke, using artificial intelligence (AI), have announced that it has received CE mark for its medical imaging software, Methinks Stroke Suite.

The Methinks Stroke Suite assists in finding LVOs both hyperdense and not. According to the National Library of Medicine, LVO accounts for approximately 30 per cent of acute ischaemic stroke.

Due to the life-threatening nature of acute stroke, which effects an estimated 17 million individuals globally each year. Methinks state that early detection is vitally important to improve the chance of recovery, reduce permanent disability and reduce the need for extensive rehabilitation.

Pau Rodriguez, CEO of Methinks, says: “We are delighted with the CE mark approval for our medical imaging software, Methinks Stroke Suite, which paves the way to enhance stroke patient outcomes by decreasing detection time and reducing disabilities.

“Our software has the potential to be used in every hospital globally to improve the standard of care of patients. The approval comes at a pivotal time ahead of US FDA submission and launching a series A financing to accelerate our growth plans be leveraging and personalising imaging-software.”

The AI-based software is a radiological computer aided triage and notification system, which works by using AI algorithms in order to identify suspected LVO on non-contrast computed tomography images and computed tomography angiography.

Additionally, the software can also detect intracerebral haemorrhages on non-contrast computed technology images. The software works alongside the clinical workflow using a simple CT scan, which is available in all hospitals which provide acute stroke care and will help to provide quick, early and precise triaging of acute stroke patients.

Methinks have stated they believe the Stroke Suite has the potential to be a valuable tool which can assist trained physicians to support crucial treatment, triaging in emergency cases by providing notifications of suspected LVO and ICH cases. The device has been validated with 3,800 cases from three different stroke reference hospitals.
