No Doubt guitarist reveals Parkinson’s diagnosis

No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont has revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis after living with early-onset symptoms for a number of years.

The musician told fans he is living with early-onset Parkinson’s in a video filmed at his home, where he detailed how the disease has affected his life.

“I went to my doctor.,I went to a neurologist, and I did a whole bunch of tests, and I was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease,” Tom, 58, said.

“It’s been a struggle. It’s a struggle every day… The good news is, I can still play music. I can still play guitar,” he added.

Dumont said he will play on and is excited about No Doubt’s upcoming residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, which kicks off next month.

He will link up with singer Gwen Stefani, drummer Adrian Young and bassist Tony Kanal for 18 shows, running until 13 June.

He told fans: “It’s been very fun looking through old footage and looking at old photographs and re-learning old songs, and rehearsing, and creating all the video stuff for the screens at the Sphere.”

Dumont said he wanted to share the diagnosis now to help inspire other people.

His decision coincided with World Parkinson’s Day and he said: “I think it helps erase some of the stigma, and it raises awareness, obviously, and awareness is really important for prevention and for research.”
