At Breakthrough Case Management and Complex Care, dignity in care isn’t just an ideal—it’s a fundamental value that shapes every aspect of our work.
Here, our CQC Registered Manager, Michelle Haywood, explains why she has registered as a Dignity Champion on behalf of the company, to mark this year’s National Dignity in Care Month.
Michelle says: “At Breakthrough, we believe that every client deserves to be seen, heard, and treated with respect.
“To us, dignity in care means recognising that every person is unique, with their own history, needs, and aspirations.
“It’s also very much about empowering choice, encouraging clients to have an active role in decisions about their care, which fosters a sense of autonomy and control.”
Reflecting on her extensive experience in within the care industry, Michelle says: “I’ve long understood that compassionate care leads to improved outcomes and a better overall quality of life.
“A huge part of my role is building trust by creating an environment where clients feel safe and valued, knowing that their well-being is at the heart of our services.”
“At its core, being a Dignity Champion means actively advocating for and upholding the highest standards of respect, compassion, and integrity in the care we provide.
“It involves promoting practices that ensure every individual is treated with the utmost respect, regardless of their circumstances.”
“By becoming a Dignity Champion, we are cementing our dedication to these principles, and enhancing our collective mission to deliver care that truly honours the dignity of every person we serve.
“As Registered Manager at Breakthrough, I strive to ensure that our practices are not only compliant with best standards but also infused with empathy and respect.”
