This role is suitable for a Specialist SLT who is interested in consolidating their practice or an established Specialist SLT who ready to take the next step in their career to a Highly Specialist role. Cygnet Taunton is opening a new 15-bed neuro-cognitive service, which will provide comprehensive, long-term inpatient care for older adults living with complex cognitive and neurological conditions alongside a psychiatric sequela. The Neurocognitive Health Pathway offers patients an improved quality of life and improved functionality often not easily available to them due to their complex psychiatric and physical presentations. Treatment and therapy is provided to optimise their abilities and reduce the impact of the neurodegenerative diagnosis they have; providing a stabilisation of symptoms and symptom management which reduces complications and preserves independence as long as possible. Care and treatment is delivered within a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment by an interdisciplinary team. Job Role As an SLT you will be working directly with a specialist caseload of patients with complex needs to assess their speech, communication and language needs (SCLN) as well as eating, drinking and swallowing (EDS) needs. You will work deliver input in line with the Cygnet SLT pathway for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative services. As part of a multi-disciplinary team on-site, you will also work with colleagues across the service to support the implementation of management approaches, upskilling the workforce as required. You will be part of a company-wide SLT service and as such will have the opportunity to participate in large-scale projects. You will receive high quality supervision and be supported with CPD. We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with:

• A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy, registration with HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists)
• Competency to independently assess and manage EDS needs (essential)
• Experience in the field of older adults, neurology and / or neurodegenerative conditions evidenced by high level of clinical SLT knowledge.

You will provide comprehensive Dietetic assessment of need to those referred for Dietetic input, producing individualised Dietetic plans for individuals and work in close collaboration with the catering team, Speech and Language Team and wider multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist advice on meal plans and feeding regimens, as required. Candidates should be a Registered Dietitian, preferably with some experience of working in either a neurology or mental health setting. The successful candidate should be / have:

• A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Dietetics, registration with HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the BDA (British Dietetic Association)
• Knowledge and experience of managing alternative (enteral) nutrition is desirable but CPD is available for this should this be required
• Knowledge and experience of supporting those with weight management and / or diabetes is also essential
• Experience of working in the field of older, adults, neuro-rehabilitation or neurodegenerative conditions and / or mental health is strongly desirable

Our focus is to create a therapeutic rich environment which engages our service users and offers them the opportunity to minimise their challenging behaviour and maximise their independence. We provide a resource intensive dedicated in-house Neuropsychiatry inter-disciplinary team. Our person-centred approach puts the individual at the centre of their treatment and discharge planning. The service offers a wide range of activities and facilities to promote independent function. Positive behaviour goals are focussed on discharge planning to support service users to return to community living – either with support or independently. Job Title: Consultant Neuropsychiatrist & Medical Director Service line: Male Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation Professionally Accountable to: Regional Medical Director Managerially Responsible to: Hospital Manager We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Neuropsychiatrist & Medical Director who will work at Cygnet Paddocks and provide a dedicated care pathway for men affected by acquired brain injury (ABI) or neurological conditions, where behaviours that challenge are the overarching impairment to recovery and rehabilitation. The individually designed wards replicate the well-established rehabilitation and treatment pathways already successfully offered by Cygnet in other Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation services; facilitating a clear and distinctive care and treatment pathway led by an all-encompassing in-house clinical and medical team. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines. Apart from being the Responsible Clinician, you will also be the Medical Director at Cygnet Paddocks, our 28 bed specialist Neuropsychiatric rehabilitation service for men. This is a full-time position with 0.2 WTE as Medical Director and 0.8 WTE as Consultant Psychiatrist. As a Consultant Psychiatrist you will:

• Lead on the provision of high quality care to the service users admitted to Cygnet Manor and Cygnet Views
• Act as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff.
• Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team
• Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
• Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
• Conduct ward rounds, patient reviews & clinical audits
• Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance within the service
• Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers hearings & attend hearings
• Liaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfer of patients and approval of leave as required
• Good maintenance of patient records
• To ensure and maintain regular communications with the Site Medical Director and Hospital Manager
• To communicate effectively through regular contact with patients, relatives, staff, directors, and any other concerned bodies; maintaining appropriate reports.
• Attend and contribute to academic meetings and adhere to the professional standards for CPD as set out by the GMC, the Department of Health and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Woodrowe House. Woodrowe House is a leading neurological complex care service located in the picturesque outskirts of Leicester, in Markfield. We specialise in complex care and treatment for individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI) and other neurological conditions, including stroke and spinal injuries. Our mission is to provide a supportive and expert environment for long-term and short-term care needs. Job Purpose As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will manage a specialist caseload of individuals with complex neurological needs, assessing and supporting their Speech, Communication and Language Needs (SCLN) and Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (EDS) needs. Acting as the lead for Speech and Language Therapy within the service, you will deliver evidence-based assessment and intervention in line with the Cygnet SLT Pathway for Neurological Complex Care, supporting rehabilitation, risk management, safety, wellbeing and quality of life. You will work with patients across our three care pathways at Woodrowe House:

• Slow Stream Rehabilitation: Goal-focused, therapeutically-led placements for people who have stepped down from acute rehabilitation settings.
• Long-term & Maintenance: Packages designed for individuals with progressive or highly dependent needs to prevent deterioration and improve quality of life.
• Short-term Placements: Providing respite care allowing the caregiver to take a much-needed break from their duties, whilst knowing that their loved one is safe and well-supported.

The role will contribute to the delivery of person-centred care, provide specialist advice and consultation, support staff training and competency development, and lead the implementation of interventions and environmental approaches that optimise communication, swallowing function, participation, independence and quality of life for individuals with complex neurological and rehabilitation needs. You will be part of a company-wide SLT service and as such will have the opportunity to participate in large-scale projects. You will receive high-quality supervision and be supported with CPD. We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with:

• A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy, registration with HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists)
• Competency to independently assess and manage EDS needs (essential)
• Experience in the field of acquired brain injury, neuroprogressive conditions, spinal injuries, evidenced by high level of clinical SLT knowledge.
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning
• Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others
• Excellent communication / time management skills
