Exemplar Health Care, a specialist nursing care provider for adults living with complex needs, has officially opened its £2.9 million state-of-the-art complex needs care home in Hull.
Marmaduke is Exemplar Health Care’s second home in East Yorkshire. The home will provide person-centred care and 
rehabilitation for younger adults who have a neuro-disability, acquired brain injury or complex mental health needs, including those who display behaviours of concern.
A place to call home
Marmaduke has the facilities to provide specialist nursing care for people living with a neuro-disability or neurodegenerative disorder.
The new care home has 18 large bedrooms, each with an en-suite wet room, that are on the ground floor to support people to maximise their independence.
The service also benefits from communal living spaces, a therapy room and an accessible landscaped garden.
The home also hosts a restaurant-style dining menu which is developed with service users at quarterly Food Forums.
This ensures that menus are varied, interesting and available to everyone, taking into account personal preferences, condition-specific and religious dietary requirements.

Katie Capes, the Home Manager of Marmaduke, shares: “I’m thrilled to have opened Exemplar Health Care’s second home in Hull. Marmaduke is a community-based home and will provide person-centred care and rehabilitation that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
“The rooms are spacious with en-suite facilities, and there’s lots of space for service users to spend time either in groups or enjoying a quiet space. The home also has a communal hub area for events, once these are safe to take place again.
“We believe in a holistic approach to care and Marmaduke will be led by the people that live and work there. We will take great care to ensure that our service users are involved in the running of the service, and strive to bring their ideas and wishes to life.”
