Mayor and MP open new Basingstone neuro rehabilitation centre

The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Cllr Dan Putty and local MP Luke Murphy were the guests of honour at the official opening of the town’s new state-of-the art neurological rehabilitation centre this week.

Cllr Putty and Mr Murphy cut the ribbon on Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke, a care service for local people with complex neurological conditions.

The contemporary 28-bedroom building features therapy and medical consulting rooms and a therapy gym fitted with state-of-the-art rehabilitation equipment.

The Mayor said he was delighted to welcome the new neurological rehabilitation service to the town.

Cllr Putty said: “It gave me great pleasure and honour to open Hamberley Neurocare. A wonderful reception was received and the hospitality by all staff was wonderful.

“Thank you for inviting me to open this great asset for the people of Basingstoke and Hampshire.

“I was amazed to see such large rooms for the rehabilitation of the residents, they are five star in the making.

The gym room was very impressive and will aid many to regain fitness.

“The décor was stunning giving a homely feeling and will offer comfort to all. May Hamberley Neurocare be a great success for all those who will receive care and work there.”

Home Manager Gill Irish thanked both Cllr Putty and Mr Murphy for attending the opening as guests of honour.

She said: “The opening ceremony was a huge success, and I want to say an extra special thank you to the Mayor, Cllr Putty and to our new MP Luke Murphy – they both did a great job of declaring us officially open.

“Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke will be a hub of clinical expertise, compassion and genuine kindness – a place where individuals receive truly tailored care that supports their recovery and resilience.

“Our dedication to exceptional care and individualised attention will shine through in every part of our service, and our launch celebration truly marked that ambition.”

Hamberley Neurocare Basingstoke will provide rehabilitation, long-term, respite and palliative care for people with brain injuries and neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease.

The purpose-built facility is ideally located to support the nearby Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust.

The arrival of Hamberley Neurocare in Basingstoke has meant the creation of 50 new jobs for the town, including more than 14 clinical roles.
