Active Care Group launches technology-enhanced neurorehabilitation division

Active Care Group, a UK based provider of complex care, has launched a new division – Active Neuro, offering transformative rehabilitation through technology-enhanced clinical pathways for adults within the UK with neurological conditions resulting from injury, illness or disease.
The complex care provider has invested in the latest rehabilitation technology at their existing neurological services, launching for the private and ICB market.
Phase one of the project sees the technology available and environmental improvements at 4 of their neurological services – Kibblesworth Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in Gateshead, Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in York, Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre in Nottingham and Hothfield Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in Kent.
The initial launch took place last week at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre. The additional services will be launching throughout 2025.
Patients will have access to upper limb, lower limb and movement and balance rehabilitation technology; ArmMotus™ M2 Gen, Wrist Motus, Bimeo Arm Rehabilitation, ExoMotus M4, Ankle Motus, Anti-Gravity Treadmill, Luna EMG and the DST Step Ramp.
Through repetition of movements, gamification within the technology and engagement, patients can track their progress from session to session, reinforcing their improvement and encouraging active participation in their recovery.
The individuals at the services will benefit from a friendly, supportive and homely environment. Accessible ensuite rooms, therapy kitchens, gardens, hydrotherapy pool, and communal lounges will support patients’ recovery.
Alongside the technology-enhanced rehabilitation, patients will also receive all clinically indicated disciplines including Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychological Therapy, Music Therapy and Hydrotherapy.
Dr Amit Chatterjee is Active Care Group’s Chief Medical Officer and Managing Director of Active Neuro.
Chatterjee said: “The launch of Active Neuro marks a significant step forward in how we approach the current national shortfall in the availability of high quality, neurorehabilitation beds.
“By combining evidence-based clinical practice with cutting-edge technology, we’re not only enhancing patient outcomes, but also creating a more engaging and personalised recovery journey.
“Our aim is to help patients regain independence and quality of life in a way that is meaningful to them.”
Following a period of inpatient rehabilitation, patients will be supported to continue their treatment with access to an outpatient’s service.
Patients can also benefit from high-quality, home-based care through Active Care Group’s Care in the Home division.
These care packages are designed around each individual’s preferences, lifestyle, and clinical needs, supporting independence and well-being in the comfort of their own home.
