Terry’s rehabilitation journey at Circle Rehabilitation

In October 2025, Terry’s life changed dramatically.
What initially appeared to be a heart attack was diagnosed as an aortic dissection.
During his recovery, he spent six weeks in a coma, suffered two further heart attacks and a stroke, and remained in hospital for three months before being referred to Circle Rehabilitation.

Before his illness, Terry ran a busy family fish and chip takeaway business, working long days and leading an active life. The sudden change was difficult to come to terms with.
After a long wait for approval, Terry arrived at Circle Rehabilitation and spent six months as an inpatient.
His rehabilitation programme focused on rebuilding his strength, helping him learn to walk again, and supporting his recovery following a stroke.
Reflecting on his experience, Terry says: “Circle rehabilitation was amazing. It felt like everything was catered around me and my needs. The staff were very supportive.”
Terry believes rehabilitation is a team effort, with every member of staff playing an important role in recovery.
“The doctors and therapists do a great job, but everyone contributes. The nursing staff check in on you every day, keep your mind active and help you through the difficult days.”
Returning home after six months in hospital brought new challenges, particularly adjusting to life outside the structured hospital environment.
However, with time, Terry settled back into home life and continued to make progress.
Today, Terry is enjoying being home and looks back on his rehabilitation journey with gratitude for the support he received along the way.
