Brain injury charity Headway open doors to new Scotland branch

The national brain injury charity Headway has opened a new regional branch in St Andrew’s, Scotland.

The branch, which opened last September before its official launch this month, has been opened in Fife, St Andrew’s, and will be volunteer led.

Services at the branch will include support and companionship for brain injury survivors and there will be a monthly guest speaker, along with entertainment such as live music, Fife Today reports.

The branch has been opened to enable service users to have easier access to support, who were previously travelling 26 miles to their nearest branch.

Speaking to the publication, chief executive of Headway Luke Griggs said: “A brain injury can affect everything about who you are- your personality and your abilities- and this can lead to brain injury survivors and their loved ones feeling really isolated in their communities.

“It’s vital that we have volunteer-led branches like Headway North East Fife to bring people together so survivors, their families and carers know they are not alone in rebuilding their lives and adapting to life after brain injury.”
