Children’s charity to hold open day for neuro rehab professionals

Neuro rehab professionals working with children in the North East can take a tour of specialised facilities which are enabling young people to thrive at an open day held next month.

Heel & Toe Children’s Charity supports hundreds of children across the region each year, enabling them to access a range of therapies to help them achieve life-changing outcomes.

The charity’s offering includes hydrotherapy, rebound therapy and hippotherapy, and has been hailed as a “lifeline” to families across the North East.

Now, rehab professionals working with young people in the region can see the facilities first-hand at Heel & Toe’s centre in Perkinsville, County Durham, through an open day organised by the charity.

The event – on May 20 – will include a tour of the specialist Hydrotherapy Centre, presentations from the charity’s physiotherapy and fundraising teams, and a talk from legal partners Irwin Mitchell and Slater and Gordon.

Both law firms are sponsoring the open day.

Amanda Tweedy, Deputy CEO of Heel & Toe, says: “The therapies we deliver to children across the North East regularly achieve life-changing outcomes for them and their families.

“Often, what we offer at Heel & Toe is not readily available to children with disabilities elsewhere in the region, and parents tell us all the time that we are a lifeline in terms of the work we do and the bespoke support we offer.

“We are very proud of the range of therapies we are able to offer, and our Hydrotherapy Centre is one of the only facilities of its kind in the North East.

“We would invite anyone working with young people with disabilities, who are looking to maximise their potential and rehabilitation opportunities, to come and see first-hand what we do here.

“Our open day will be a great chance to see how we could extend our support to even more children across the region.”

The open day is being held on Tuesday, May 20, from 3pm to 6pm, at the Heel & Toe Centre on Gairloch Drive, Perkinsville, DH2 1DE. Drinks and light bites will follow the tour and presentations.
