Life-changing research recognised in NR Times Awards

The research helping to change the future and giving hope to patients living with neurological illness and injury is being recognised in the inaugural NR Times Awards.

The Awards are looking for the individuals and teams around the world whose work is changing lives both now and in years to come, and whose dedication is helping to give a new outlook in neuro-rehab.

Research is at the heart of the major breakthroughs and new developments in the world of neuro-rehab, with innovation at the root of the enormous progress seen in this area of healthcare.

Through the Research Project of the Year Award, the first-ever NR Times Awards wants to shine a light on the outstanding work of those working in academic and clinical fields who are helping to change the future.

The award, sponsored by Askham Rehab, is one of 12 categories open for entry, all of which seek to acknowledge excellence in neuro-rehab and reward the dedication, commitment and innovation of those working in the field.

Askham Rehab, part of Askham Village Community, is a family-run operation with more than 30 years’ experience of working in the sector, including a decade within the field of neuro-rehab, where it continues to deliver beyond-expectation outcomes to patients after neurological illness and injury.

Aliyyah-Begum Nasser, director at Askham Rehab, says: “Askham is proud to be sponsoring this award.

“With so much innovation in the space, patients stand to benefit enormously from pioneering ideas, equipment and approaches.

“At Askham we believe it’s important that any innovation is supported by appropriate research to ensure it is not only safe but also effective for any user.

“We have worked with a variety of organisations to participate in research and bring the newest concepts to our patients.

“We look forward to reviewing entries and will be looking for robust approaches to ensuring that the path from idea to implementation is fully supported with evidence based research. Best of luck to all nominees!”

Deborah Johnson, editor of NR Times, adds: “Research is absolutely fundamental to the progress we see in this fast-moving area of healthcare, and while helping to change lives now, it also gives hope for the future to so many for whom treatments or therapies may not immediately be available.

“We want to find the individuals and teams around the world whose work is playing a vital role in delivering this progress, and whose research is helping to inspire the change and new practice which will deliver the life-changing patient outcomes.”
