English cricketer Tymal Mills has opened up on his Big Bash absence, after his two-year-old daughter Delphi had a stroke.
Tymal was at the airport preparing to join up with his team the Perth Scorchers when his daughter fell ill.
It was announced on December 14th that Mills would be absent from the Scorchers squad for the Big Bash as a matter of a family emergency, with the team stating ‘the club fully supports Mills’ decision, and sends him thoughts and best wishes to his family during this time’.
Mills revealed on an instagram post that his daughter Delphi, who is only two-years-old, had suffered a stroke.
“Home for Christmas after the most horrible 11 days.
“As we were at the airport about to leave for Australia our daughter suffered what ended up being a stroke.
“She lost complete use of the left side of her body and we were told they couldn’t predict how much she would regain” says Mills.
In the best news possible, Mills shares that his daughter has in fact made an amazing recovery: “Despite all of the challenges she faced our little girl has amazed everyone with her recovery to point where we were discharged with her hopping and skipping out of the hospital.
“She has had lots of rehab, medication and scans ahead but we are so grateful to be where we are right now.”
Mills finishes the post by thanking those who sent their support during a difficult time for Mills and his family: “Thank you to everyone that’s reached out to us. Keep your loved ones close.”
