UK rehab professionals urged to contact MPs ahead of ABI debate

UK rehab professionals and patient families are being urged to contact their MPs ahead of a Westminster Hall debate on acquired brain injury (ABI), scheduled to take place on Thursday 4 December.

The UK Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF) – which continues to champion greater awareness of brain injury and its long-term impact – says the debate represents an important opportunity to broaden political engagement and strengthen the national conversation around ABI.

The organisation is encouraging clinicians, service providers, people with lived experience and community partners to write to their local MP in advance of the debate, highlighting why ABI matters to them and the need for sustained action.

To support this, UKABIF has published a template letter, a briefing document on the debate, and guidance on how to identify your local MP. The charity is also urging individuals to personalise their messages with their own insights or frontline experience to help reinforce why the issue requires continued parliamentary attention.

With work continuing on the development of the ABI Action Plan, UKABIF says engagement from the neuro-rehab and wider brain injury community will be vital in helping ensure the plan is informed, meaningful and reflective of real-world needs.
