VIDEO: The suit with huge potential to change lives

We were joined in our North East office by Christian Graham from Winback medical, who gave us a demonstration of its G-Move suit.

“We have used the G-Move Suit with a wide range of patients living with and recovering from incomplete SCI, stroke, brain injury, cerebral palsy and Parkinson’s disease, with symptoms including weakness and paresis, sensory impairment, ataxia, fatigue and spasticity.”

The suit’s purpose is to offer “better motor control” and “better stability” which in turn helps with walking, recovery and rehabilitation.

The suit also has an effect on balance and coordination, this is done by intermittent compression at differing levels.

Through its four effects the suit can help the user regain lost motion, those four effects are:

1st effect – ‘Compression stimulates the skin’s baroreceptors. These stimuli are then transmitted to the brain, allowing patients to focus attention on the lower limbs.’

2nd effect – ‘Muscle compression facilitates the recruitment of motor units’

The first two effects encourage better coordination through targeted attention and effective contraction.

3rd effect – ‘Compression activates the mechanoreceptors located in the fascias, which are essential for proprioception.’

4th effect – ‘Most patients with balance disorders generally have limited autonomy and walking range. G-Move suit improves venous return, thus optimising the rehabilitation session by reducing tiredness and the pause time between each exercise.’

Watch the video above to get a full demonstration of how the G-Move suit works.
