Richardson Care Boosts Admissions Team with two new appointments

Richardson Care, specialist provider of neurorehabilitation and residential care in Northampton has appointed Helen Carter and Christina Crout as Admissions and Referrals Co-ordinators. They bring varied professional experience and skills to their new roles, and join Admissions and Referrals Manager, Gill Ayris.

Gill says: “I’m delighted to welcome Helen and Christina on board. They have different strengths and we all complement each other to make a great team.

They are working really hard to get to know the business and are both committed to making a positive impact on the lives of people with acquired brain injury and learning disabilities.”

Helen Carter brings a sensitivity to her role as Admissions and Referrals Co-ordinator, as well as attention to detail, technical knowledge and a strong belief in the rights of vulnerable people. She is passionate about Richardson Care and finding the right placement for service users.

Helen has a varied professional experience in specialist care, including supporting an individual with encephalitis to remain at home, being a senior support worker for young people ages 16 – 25, and safeguarding and advocating for young people who have experienced sexual violence.

She has also recently worked in healthcare compliance and recruitment. She combines all these skills in her role at Richardson Care.

She says: “I’m very excited to be part of the team at Richardson Care. I feel that all my previous professional experiences have contributed to the skills I need in this varied and rewarding role.

“I love speaking to people and building professional relationships to provide better outcomes for individuals.

Helen continues: “I love it here and I’ve found all the staff really supportive. I think that what makes Richardson Care unique is that it’s a family business.

“That really comes across in the homes and some of the service users have lived here for a long time.

“It’s clear that people aren’t just numbers: A new admission has to be the right fit for the people already here. That’s really important.

“And each home has a different vibe – they’re like different families with Richardson Care being one extended family!”

A bubbly and supportive team player, Christina Crout is experienced in working with people who have learning disabilities and complex needs.

Versatile and creative, Christina previously set up and ran workshops for people with learning disabilities to promote well-being and to help them develop life skills.

She taught cooking, woodwork and basic car maintenance, as well as assessing needs, creating care plans and maintaining records.

Christina is experienced in CQC compliance, committed to service user care and is a talented communicator, especially when collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

When describing Richardson Care she says: “I love the environment here: it has a real family feel and I like the way that everyone interracts with the service users.

“It’s not just the care staff, for example, as the service users can call into our office to say hello if they want to.

“I love the diversity in my role and really enjoy the events. I think we’re a great team as we have different strengths and work well together.

“I came in to this role from teaching life skills in a learning disability workshop, so it is great being able to still get out and have an active input in to people’s care.

“I really enjoy helping our service users and their families to find the right placement to get the most out of life.”
