By Brain Injury Group
The Adult Brain Injury Conference, hosted by the Brain Injury Group, returns this June, bringing together professionals from across the brain injury sector.
Taking place on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th June 2026 at The Lowry, Salford Quays, Manchester, this year’s event marks its first-ever two-day format and is APIL accredited, supporting ongoing professional development for those working in clinical, legal, and case management roles.
Brain Injury Group conferences are APIL-Accredited offering CPD points for delegates who attend either day of the two-day conference.
Hear from Experts within the industry
Over the two days, you’ll hear from a diverse range of expert keynote speakers—including barristers, occupational therapists, consultant neurosurgeons, clinical neuropsychologists, financial planners, and Court of Protection solicitors—offering valuable insights from leading professionals across multiple disciplines, all focused on improving outcomes for adults with brain injury.
Some of the key topics covered in the programme include:
Latest Research on the Long-Term Consequences of Head Injury
Understanding the long-term effects of traumatic brain injury is essential when evaluating future care needs, life expectancy and financial settlements.
This session examines emerging research that may influence medico-legal assessments.
Genetic Testing in High-Value Claims
Advances in genetic testing are beginning to influence how causation and prognosis are assessed in catastrophic injury claims.
This session explores how genetic evidence may be considered in complex litigation and the implications for high-value brain injury cases.
Misdiagnosis and Delayed Treatment of Brain Tumours
Failures in diagnosis or treatment can form the basis of complex clinical negligence claims.
This session explores clinical pathways and systemic issues that may contribute to diagnostic delays.
Managing the Risks of AI in Expert Evidence
Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used in medical analysis and reporting.
This raises important questions around reliability, transparency and evidential standards in medico-legal reports.
NICE Guidelines in Practice
Clinical guidelines frequently underpin arguments around standard of care in negligence claims.
This session explores how NICE recommendations are interpreted and applied in clinical practice.
The programme also explores clinical treatment, complex care needs and lived experience. These perspectives provide valuable context for professionals working across the sector, supporting a more joined-up understanding of both practice and outcomes.

Lived Experience Key Note Speakers
Across the two days, you will hear inspirational stories offering a lived-experience perspective on the challenges, resilience, positive outcomes, and key learnings involved in recovering from a brain injury.
Our speakers this year include:
On 11th June, we’ll be joined by Nicholas Cass, ambassador for Heads Up Therapies and Sports Rehabilitation Therapist at Life Works.
He will share part of his powerful journey following a traumatic brain injury sustained in a road traffic incident in 2020.
This will be a raw and honest conversation exploring recovery, identity, and rebuilding confidence through sports rehabilitation and social interaction, with the support of Ryan Price and Heads Up Therapies.
On 12th June, we’ll be joined by Clarke Carlisle, former Premier League footballer and former PFA Chairman, and Carrie Carlisle, author and presenter, for what promises to be one of the most powerful and memorable sessions of the conference: “Mental Health and Resilience: A Shared Journey.”
Together, Carrie and Clarke will share their deeply personal experiences of mental ill health, including the impact of recurrent complex depression, and the realities faced not only by the individual but also by loved ones providing support through the most challenging times.
They will also reflect on the resilience, strength, and lessons that helped them reach a place of sustained wellness.
