
Case Management Society UK (CMSUK) held the 2025 CMSUK Conference ‘The Identity Journey’ in Solihull on 27 and 28 March 2025.
The two day event included three streams of talks, a dedicated exhibition hall along with a dinner evening and entertainment.
The event explored the process of rediscovering one’s identity after an accident, discussing how individuals navigate the significant physical, mental, and emotional changes brought about by life-altering events.
Keynote speaker at the event was Teresa Clarke – a wellbeing expert who has overcome a traumatic personal history to spearhead positive social change – who spoke on on the ‘Wellness Revolution’.
The programme featured presentations and candid discussions, offering insights into personal stories of resilience, adaptation, and growth, with attendees hearing from those who have faced immense challenges and will gain valuable perspectives on the journey to rebuild one’s sense of self.
Talks at the event covered AI in Complex Care; Gloucester Suite Turning Tragedy Into Triumph with Clients – using Smart Vocational Rehabilitation and the Power of Nature; The Importance of Work as a Rehabilitation Outcome; Living with Sight Loss; Where should Vocational Rehab sit in the Brain Injury Process?; and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) – The Legal and Rehab Pain Points for Case Management Consideration, among others.
The conference highlighted the diverse impacts of accidents on personal identity, covering both the physical changes and the complex mental health aspects, providing attendees with an understanding of the emotional and psychological toll these experiences can have not only on individuals but also on their families, colleagues, and communities.
