Case managers urged to take part in new brain injury survey

Insight from case managers across the country is being sought to gauge the current situation around brain injury and whether the Government’s ABI strategy can achieve its aims.

Nockolds Solicitors, in association with NR Times, has launched a national survey aimed at brain injury case managers, to help establish what provision exists – but what more needs to be done.

The survey focuses on a wide range of issues and asks whether the current political uncertainty will impact on the implementation of the Government’s much-anticipated ABI strategy.

The strategy is currently being prepared, following a Call for Evidence which gathered insight from healthcare professionals, survivors and families affected by brain injury.

Chris Bryant MP – who is leading the development of the strategy alongside care minister Gillian Keegan MP – has also recently visited a number of key brain injury rehabilitation sites around the country, to help identify best practice alongside gaps in provision.

The new survey seeks to gain insight from case managers working in brain injury about the reality of the situation they and their clients face every day.

Commenting on the project, Jennie Jones, head of the medical negligence and personal injury team at Nockolds Solicitors, said:

“ABI care and support is at a real crossroads.

“The Government’s ABI strategy is a huge step in the right direction but important questions remain.

“As solicitors specialising in brain injury cases, we appreciate the vital work case managers undertake.

“We would encourage brain injury case managers throughout the UK to take part in this survey and share their views.”

Deborah Johnson, editor of NR Times, said: “The creation of the ABI strategy is a momentous occasion in ABI provision nationally, but there is a huge amount to be done in terms of its relevance and implementation.

“Case managers play a vital role in brain injury support and their insight is hugely valuable in laying bare how the land truly lies for their clients.

“We would urge case managers to share their insight into the current situation through the survey, the results of which will be hugely revealing about the reality of ABI support.”

With decades of experience and a proven track record, Nockolds Solicitors is ranked in the top tiers of the prestigious Legal 500 and Chambers UK directories.

The firm is recognised as one of the leading medical negligence and personal injury teams in the UK, and has been described as ‘vastly experienced and knowledgeable, with excellent client skills’.

Senior Associate, Yasmin Ameer, was awarded the status of Leading Individual in the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 editions of the Legal 500. The legal directory said ‘no one in the country is more expert in catastrophic injuries’ and praised Yasmin for ‘going beyond the normal call of duty’.
